EXP2 Week 3 - Final Submission

'Electroliquid Aggregation'
The blurring of the interior and exterior, the structure and the environment creates an integrated whole that allows dynamic movement through the monument and thus encourages social interaction.

The monument can be seen as one interwoven structure - not just with the man made forms but with the environment itself. The cliffs of the mountain and the 'space between' create areas that blur the boundaries of the monument and so the mountain can be redefined as not just a setting but an integral part of the design.

The cliff ledge provides a seating and viewing area for the students and but also serves as a connection between the roof, the main platform and the curvelinear lounge bowl that lies behind this shot. The ledge encourages a variety of movement throughout the monument which increases social integration.

The curvelinear form really enhances the idea of shared circulation and not one restricted line of movement through the mutiple staircases leading to it. This shot also shows the interconnection between the two forms - how the exterior of one becomes caught inside the other.

The materialty of the structure  makes the definition of the monument and the surroundings hard to distinguish. Here the lounge bowl is seen at the bottom right and while it is open to the elements, the sunken shape gives a feeling of enclosure or internal space.

EXP2 Week 3 Applied Textures

Light

This texture mirrors the rocky landscape in which the monument sits. It draws focus to the wall which creates and semi-enclosed space with the platform roof and the cliffs of the mountain.

Medium

The bowl acts as a circular bench for students to sit, interact and admire the view. As this is an important part of bringing people together I have highlighted it with the use of the medium texture.

Dark

The darkness of the texture is used to enclose the space while still having the sides open and free. The dark 'wall, roof and entranceway assume an interior that is juxtaposed with the open sides that make one feel outdoors.

EXP 2 Week 2 - Electroliquid Aggregation/ 6 Combined Axonometrics

1. Electroliquid Aggregation - Limitation of excess and punctuated linear space to emphasise open space and create the freedom of movement through it

2. Electroliquid Aggregation -
Making repetitive forms feel unique by the changing of scale and hence the creation of enclosed spaces that ultimately encourages social engagement.

3. Electroliquid Aggregation - The blurring of the exterior and interior, the structure and the environment creates an integrated whole that allows dynamic movement through the monument and thus encourages social interaction.
